Each registered domain name has no less than two Name Server records which show where it's hosted i.e. by using these records you point your domain to the servers of a certain web hosting provider. That way, you've got both your site and your e-mails managed by the same provider. On the lower level of the Domain Name System (DNS), nevertheless, there are lots of other records, for instance A and MX. The first one shows which server manages the site for a given Internet domain and is always an IP address (123.123.123.123), while the latter reveals which server handles the e-mails and is always an alphanumeric string (mx1.domain.com). As an example, when you enter a domain name in your web browser, your request is sent through the global DNS system to the company whose NS records the domain name uses and from there you may be forwarded to the servers of another service provider in case you have set an IP address of the latter as an A record for your domain address. Having independent records for the website and the e-mails means that you can have your website and your emails with two different providers if you wish.

Custom MX and A Records in Shared Website Hosting

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, that comes with each and every shared website hosting plan which we offer, allows you to see, modify and create A and MX records for each domain name or subdomain inside your account. Through the DNS Records section, you'll be able to view a list of all hosts within the account in alphabetical order with their corresponding records, so any update won't take you more than a few clicks. Setting up new records is as simple if, for example, you wish to use the e-mail services of another provider and they ask you to create more MX records than the default 2. You may also set the priority for every MX record by setting different latency. To put it differently, when your emails are delivered, the sending server will contact the record with the smallest latency first and if the connection times out, it will contact the next one. Using our sophisticated tool, you are going to be able to manage the records of your domain addresses and subdomains easily even if you have no prior experience with such matters.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

Accessing and changing the A or MX records for any one of your domains or subdomains is extremely easy if you get a semi-dedicated server plan through our company. The accounts are handled using our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel, which features a section dedicated to the DNS records of your domains. The latter is going to be listed alphabetically and you may click on each of them to see both the A and the MX records. Editing any record is as simple as entering the new one in a text box and saving the change, so in case you have never dealt with such matters before, you simply won't experience any difficulties if you wish to direct your website or e-mails to another service provider while keeping the second service with our company. If needed, you can also set up additional MX records and set a specific priority based on the recommendations of the new provider.
